It’s really crazy how time flies! My son just turned two today 🙂 i can still remember breast feeding him, carrying him and singing songs for him during bed time. He was so tiny then. But now he can run fast, eats by himself and he’s really a kid. Not a baby anymore 🙂
We were supposed to go to a zoo in Tagaytay, the one near Residence Inn, but the weather is acting up, having bipolar tendencies. So i decided to give an indoor zoo a try instead. And so we visited Ark Avilon Zoo in Pasig.
It is located at Frontera Verde Ortigas Avenue Pasig City. Few blocks away from Tiendesitas. From the name itself, it resembles the famous biblical wooden ark with animals inside. It is an intercative indoor zoo where you can freely interact with animals. You can touch, feed and take pictures with them. The creative fonts makes the place attractive to kids and adults.
Me and my baby 🙂
There’s a pet shop and souvenir store as you enter the zoo. They have live birds, cactuses, turtles and other pet animals for sale. The cashier is also there.
Entrance fees for adults and children above 3.5 ft is 300 php. While children under 3.5 ft is 200 php. Infants 0-12 months are free.
Well it’s an indoor zoo. So don’t expect a cool environment. Wear comfy clothes and make sure to bring extra for your kids.
It’s quite interesting because unlike other zoos where animals are caged, most of the birds and bearcats here are not. You can see them flying and moving around but do not create a mess to intimidate people. Maybe because they are used to being exposed to visitors from the very start. You can touch them, put them in your hands and take photos. But if you wish to take photos with them, you have to pay an extra fifty bucks.
Another thing that makes Ark Avilon different is that you can feed the animals here. You can buy feeds from a counter and you are free to feed them. Other zoos usually have signs not to feed the animals, but here, you definitely can! This is sich a great help to encourage people to interact with the animals and I bet the kids will start to stop being afraid to them.
They also have a good collection of other animals that you wouldn’t normally see in other zoos.
I love the wooden architectural design of the stairs going to the second floor which houses the common animals found here in the Philippines. You can see the pigs, goats, the donkey, a pony, rabbits, guinea pigs, sheeps. Snakes and other reptiles are placed in aquariums.
As a mom, i am really thankful that there’s a play area for kids in case they get bored or tired. It has a play house, sand boxes and creative stuff for kids. There’s also a mini canteen where you can buy snacks if ever the kiddos get hungry.
Aside fom Ark Avilon’s amazing array of animals, it also offers a party place for everyone who wishes to spend their special events here! We were able to check the area even if it’s restricted:) pasaway!
Ark Avilon is a great place to engage your kids to animals. My verdict? An 8 out of 10. It has a lot to improve, and a lot of animals to add to their collection. I also wish they make a way to make the place cooler because it’s really hot inside. But our experience was great nd a lot of fun! I saw my son interact with the animals and i also enjoyed visiting this place. Parents should supervise their kids very well because the animals can get really close. I would really love to come back to feed and take pictures with the animals. And hoping that the entrance fee would include the payment for feeds and photos. Hihi. Such a kuripot mommy 🙂
